Well, since last night's disappointment with the kill statistics errors, my outlook has improved considerably. It was probably inevitable that an error would occur along the way -- I have heard of such things. My best friend (Victorie's father, Valherst) was with me at the time, and we both know that Victorie didn't kill a humanoid or anything else for that matter. He thinks I'm crazy for undertaking such a project, but has been supportive and encouraging ... and he reminded me that such things don't really matter unless you let them. And, in the end, I know that I am roleplaying my character faithfully. So with that in mind, this morning Victorie upgraded her gear and equipped the fine leather goods that Niainde gave her a few days ago. I made sure I had all my training up to scratch. I did not, however, replace my weapons -- I'm keeping the two level 11 Heavy Copper Longswords with Crusader on them, because they were a gift from Victorie's father. Then she set out on her new black pony (also a gift from Valherst) to Redridge Mountains (thank you to Sigworthy for the tip to start here). In Lakeshire, I accepted the quest from Verner Osgood to collect six underbelly whelp scales -- my very first combat quest. So Victorie engaged a level 17 Black Dragon Whelp. She employed no rogue trickery, as I don't even know how to play a rogue well yet. She just charged headlong toward the whelp, swords out and flashing, and opened with a sinister strike. Her skill in Swords was extremely low ... like 3, or something. But ... SHE PREVAILED! She killed that whelp ... and, wow, it felt great! The more I think about it, the more I think it may have been a good thing that the system made a mistake in my kills. I might have kept trying to get more levels without getting into combat, and that was really an exercise in frustration. This error spurred me to take action. Besides, the stats will still show the number of dragonkin killed, and being off by a few doesn't really negate her achievement. I will write up Victorie's perspective of the experience later. Right now I've got some dragons to slay. :)  Read the next installment in The Dragon Slayer Project: Notches in My Hilt
