Character Details

Thel (only one person gets to call him this, however)
Ancient.
Male
Spinster.
Neutral Good
Raven black, long and flowing. Has a similarily black, neatly trimmed beard.
A tranquil turqoise, glowing steadily.
Slightly above male Night Elf average (hence, head and shoulders taller than most human men).
Fairly slim for a Kaldorei male.
Facial structure and eyebrows are sleeker than usual for his race, almost approaching those of a Sindorei. It's really only the downswept ears and lilac-toned skin that confirm his Kaldorei origin.
As little as his age shows in appearances, it does have its impact on his physical constitution. The priest's staff that serves as his emblem of station is more an extended walking stick than anything else, and he prefers to avoid protracted combat. It is only by the grace of his considerable self-conditioning in the Disciplinary arts that he seems as unaffected by his exceedingly long lifespan as he does.
Arcane robes of varying quality and potency. Prefers a simple, unadorned novice's robe when casual; keeps a number of formal robes for diplomatic missions and gatherings.
His priest's staff.
Quiet and carefully formulated, but with an undeniable authority and presence. A deep but remarkably soft baritone.

Gets significantly more animated when involved in a discussion pertaining to one of his personal research fields. You wouldn't think he was a day over 1 000 years old ...
Possesses a nigh unquenchable patience. Appears like an ancient, timeless mentor, halfway transcended to the immaterial realm. Always keeps a background presence, unless he senses the need to step forward and state his grounds clearly - which he does with an unparallelled combination of humility and pondus, never raising his voice more than absolutely necessary.

In battle, he displays his inherent determination and strength of will far more openly, employing the Disciplinary arts to weave impenetrable walls of pure willpower around himself and his allies, and call down the fury of Elune upon his foes.
Can exhibit a remarkable passion for his age, especially towards his personal research subjects. Perfectly capable of debating the most itinerant hair-splitting details for days and nights on end.
A dedicated scribe and record-keeper, derived from his recently rediscovered passion for research and literature. Pursues herbalism as per Kaldorei tradition, personal interest, and an effort to more easily procure the necessary resources for his main profession. Supplements his restorative abilities with first aid techniques.
A borderline prescient intuition towards the machinations of the world.

Retains a residual empathic connection towards animals from his former occupation as a Druid of the Antler.
As a Nigh Elf of over 10 000 years of age, his time perception can be a little off occasionally. Like, say, a month or five.
Unquestionably loyal to Tyrande Whisperwind. It is commonly said that his dedication to the Priestess is second only to his committment to Elune herself.

Highly dedicated to the stability of the Alliance and its ongoing attempts at diplomacy with the New Horde. Maintains close ties with Theramore for this purpose. Views the human race as the ascendant inheritors of Azeroth.

Now officially a member of the Dragonguard, the umbrella name taken by the Crossdeep clan and its closest friends and allies. Serves as the ambassadorial liaison to the main factions of the Alliance and other groups the guild may encounter during its continuing trials.
No remaining direct family. Has many ties, political and personal, among the various governments of the Alliance. Keeps a close friendship with Daryn Lightwind and Erelas Ambersky of Rut'theran Village and maintains a semi-regular correspondence with Quintis Jonespyre of Feathermoon Stronghold.

Has recently become tightly woven in with the Crossdeep family and its endeavours and plights.
The Burning Legion remains his sworn enemy.

Mission

Priest of Elune
"Faith, child. Just that. And all that."
Views Malorne's legendary accomplishments as the epitome of diplomacy and negotiation skills; strives wholeheartedly to emulate that approach in everything he does.
To witness this greatest of dramas play out.

History

Ancient Kalimdor

As one of the few living beings on Azeroth that predate the legendary War of the Ancients, Theluin is one of those rare people that have literally "seen it all". Originally a scholar in the first gleaming civilisation of the Kaldorei, he was a great admirer of Tyrande Whisperwind and held a deep respect towards the Priestesses of Elune, often seeking advice among their numbers and giving counsel in return. His world was brutally upended when Queen Azshara betrayed the earth itself by inviting the Burning Legion into Azeroth. Aligning himself with the druidic teachings of Malfurion Stormrage, Theluin cast aside his ties to the Quel'dorei and swore eternal allegiance to Malorne the Waywatcher and his offspring, the demigod Cenarius.

Theluin quickly found himself caught up in the devastation visited upon the world as the followers of the Dark Titan ran rampant across the land. Even as he stood alongside his fellow Druids to repel the endless hordes of demons and far fouler beasts, he discovered that his own brother, an accomplished arcanist, was turning renegade alongside the Quel'dorei still loyal to the crazed queen. To Theluin, this mind-shattering moment would forever become etched in his memory as an excruciating demonstration of how close corruption is capable to strike. Unable to maintain himself from the grief, he withdrew from the front lines to employ his restorative abilities for the benefit of the fugitive civilians even as Malfurion led the final, desperate attack against the Well of Eternity.

Having thus escaped the destruction of the Well, Theluin spent the following millennia dedicating himself to the reconstruction of the Elven legacy, embracing the new world that the cataclysmic resolution of the war against Sargeras had birthed. Perhaps as a memento of his lost brother and his own failure to remain on the battlefield, he began to pursue a path of self-discipline, dedicating himself to the strengthening of his mind and spirit whenever he wasn't in hibernation, the latter which grew increasingly few and far between. He kept gleaning more and more of his philosophy and worldview from the Priesthood of Elune, a fact that gradually began to worry his fellow Druids.

Eventually, even Theluin himself came to doubt his initial choice to become a Druid. It was a deeply harrowing time for him as he grappled inwardly with what he percieved as a grave betrayal towards Malorne as well as his Druidic kinsmen. In a desperate attempt to reaffirm his ties with Cenarion's creed, he entered the Emerald Dream, remaining in hibernation for several thousand years as he restlessly paced its ethereal pathways, seeking a solution to his inner turmoil.

His physical body wouldn't stir again until the Third War of Azeroth, when Tyrande sallied forth to reawaken the Druids in the imminent conflict against the resurgent Burning Legion. This became the turning point for Theluin, as he finally accepted that his heart and loyalty ultimately lay with the tenets of Elune and his own origin as a scholar. He kept his mouth closed, but he did volunteer to ally himself with the human troops and use his Druidic skills to heal and revitalise the wounded.

When Archimonde led the onslaught towards Mount Hyjal, Theluin was among those who recognised the gravity of setting aside the old enmities between the humans and the orcs, enmities that paled in comparison to the crisis the world was once again facing. Speaking passionately in favour of Medivh's desperate plan, Theluin's vote fell among those critical to the eventual execution of what would become one of the grandest shows of defiance against the Burning Crusade.

After Archimonde's spectacular demise, as the Druidic cult and the Priesthood opened their ideologies to both genders of the Kaldorei, Theluin took the opportunity to finalise his transition from a Druid of the Antler to a Priest of Elune. Already familiarised with the ways of Discipline, it was a small matter for him to shift perspective from the demigod of nature to the Moon Goddess, owing to the connection between the two that Malorne represents.

Over the following years, Theluin has busied himself with the ongoing relationships between the internal factions of the Alliance and the grander exchange between the Alliance and the Horde. Holding the ancient tales of Malorne's fabled interventions as an example, he strives to become as accomplished a diplomat as the legendary White Stag himself. He faces the newfound mortality of his kin with stoic calm, firmly believing that only through faith in the future can the Kaldorei prevail.

Theluin spends time equally in all the capitals of the Alliance, though he can most often be found either strolling beneath the branches of the Stormwind Park, or wandering seemingly aimlessly through the carved stone corridors of the Stormwind Cathedral, when he's not wrapped up in some obscure, heated debate in the Academic Quarters.

-- A chance encounter in the library wings in the Cathedral of Light has led to a rather unexpected acquaintance with a certain enterprising young human rogue ... he has since grown into something of a surrogate guardian for the temperamental woman.

-- Has recently regained contact with his (very!) old friend and former colleague Pterneldan Crossdeep.
