Character Details

Terro, 'Thanes, Sparky
Looks to be in his early 20s.
Male
Single
Neutral Good
Coal black, slightly singed, shoulder length, and tied back into a messy foxtail with a leather strap. Lost its luster due to constant exposure to fire.
Cinnamon brown, bright, and typical of an Anglo face. Eyes glow orange when angered or frustrated.
5'8"/Average in Dragonform
Slim, but very athletic... unusual for a mage.
As a human, he has very sharp Caucasian features, though slightly softened by youth. His skin is inexplicably a dark, deeply-tanned bronze color more suited for Eastern Indians than for Anglos. Sports a thin moustache and goatee.
He's still pretty young, so he lacks any visible scars for the time being. If he does have scars, he's probably using magic to hide them.
He prefers light and loose clothing. He only wears robes when training his skills in the arcane or when traveling. For missions, light armor and a facemask.
((Pronounced "Teh-roh-THAH-nes"))

Put simply, he's your run-of-the-mill young fire mage. There he is, as you observe, standing away from the crowd, watching the little flames he had conjured dance across his hands with wide and almost wild eyes.

He's a wiry-bodied young man, almost too athletic to be a mage. His skin is somewhat dusky-colored, as if though he were fair-skinned once, but it seems that his constant exposure to fire magic had toasted him quite a few times. His weapons, his facial hair, his clothes and even his coal-black hair, haphazardly tied up in a disheveled foxtail with a leather strap behind his head, look slightly singed, indicating that he still is learning the ins and outs of his vocation.

Given the nature of most fire mages, you decide to take caution in greeting him. Maybe he's more friendly than the fire he's playing with lets on...
Standard Mage fare: staff, wand, and mastery of the arcane.
Being a mage, he is well-studied, and he speaks semi-formally in day-to-day conversation. He tends to address everyone as either Master, Miss, or Lord/Lady, depending on their status (and gender, obviously,) unless he knows them well or they already have a very prominent title, like King or High Priestess.
Peaceable and friendly young man, complete with a trained-in reclusive streak and a bit of a hot temper (something expected when dealing with fire mages!) Lately has become a bit reclusive, but appreciates open-minded conversation and the possibility of gaining new friends.
Though he appears to be around 20 years old, he does act like a 10 or 12 year old at times. When he has to, he will maintain a more mature composure, but when left to his own devices, or given a very comfortable environment, one will find that he is still very much a kid complete with an easily amused or distracted mind and a dangerous curiosity streak (a result of his upbringing.)

/insert Curiosity Sphere dialogue
"Ooh! What's that? What's THAT?! Ohhh...! What's in heeere...?"
While studying animal anatomy, Terro had taken to flaying off the skins of his study specimens when he was done and taking them to Dalaran's local tanner. Also part of his curriculum were lessons in botany, so he has a basic grasp of herbalism.

He has also learned First Aid. He won't tell us exactly why, but it seems he's had a good load of practice.
If he has any notable talents, he's doing a darn good job of hiding them.

Beyond that, he's learned the art of dodging questions from some rather dubious and pedantic Mages in Dalaran, though he will admit that he's not quite sure just why.

Did we mention that he's also a quick study? He will pick up something especially quickly if it's something that interests him.
-- He is as naive and childish as he is intelligent and capable. While well-studied and connected to many powerful mages and magic-wielding figures in Dalaran, it is clear there are many things he still does not know.
-- He also has a little insecurity due to his being an orphan, and learned to be very shy and supplicant around moderate and large groups of people due to the unusual upbringing the Kirin Tor forced upon him as he grew. Only in small groups or in one-on-one situations will Terro show that he's actually a bold and brash young man.
-- Also a result of his stilted upbringing, Terrothanes tends to get a little leery when he realizes people are withholding important information from him. Given that his teacher was Gilthoniel, one of many mages notorious for uncovering secrets, it comes as no surprise that Terrothanes will uncover information for the sake of advancing a purpose.
-- Now, even though Terrothanes isn't fond of secrets being kept from him (and he will figure things out), recent events regarding his heritage have taught Terrothanes to respect undisclosed information.
--Due to the events surrounding the Cataclysm, Terro is finding it difficult to gain the trust of people beyond his circle of friends. It's very likely it is because of the recent out-ing of his draconic heritage.
-He was raised as a ward of the Kirin Tor, so he is affiliated with them by default.
-He is currently without a guild home.
-Was trained by the Netherwing Dragonflight in Shattrath.
-Currently living and working with the Crossdeep family.
-- His foster father, teacher, and master, Gilthoniel, was an agent of the Kirin Tor assigned to raise and train Terrothanes. As of this time, Gilthoniel's whereabouts are unknown, and young Terrothanes fears the worst for his now adoptive father.
-- ArchDruid Pterneldan Crossdeep is a close friend of Terrothanes, and it was Terrothanes and Gilthoniel that rescued a very ill Pterneldan from darkest Felwood several years before. Terro looks up to the archdruid as a source of wisdom, inspiration, and hope. Since Pterneldan's disappearance, he has been adamant about helping Pterneldan's adoptive children find their an'da... perhaps to also help find his own.
-- As far Terrothanes is concerned, heritage or not, he is the only one in his family that is left.
Because of his upbringing, Terro has learned to do his best -not- to make enemies, as it will draw unneeded attention to him. ... and now that he is aware of his bloodline, enemies are the last thing he needs now.
--While not a pet per se, recent events have led Terro into the possession of a Red Dragon egg. Whether or not it will hatch is not known, but he guards it jealously.

Mission

[Former] Ward of Dalaran
"Teach me. I want to be ready."
-- To learn more about his heritage and learn how to rise above his bloodline's stigma
-- Finding his adoptive father alive and well
-- Finding Archdruid Pterneldan Crossdeep
-- The sake of his friends
-- To one day be strong enough to face down the source of his heritage's historical darkness
-- Finding his adoptive father, and other "redeemed" dragons with his bloodline...
-- One day hopes to become wise and powerful, so he may lead and teach others who share his bloodline into a brighter and more peaceful future.

History

Dalaran

With the whispers of the Third War being heard in the winds, Alexstraza calls the Kirin Tor to Wyrmrest Temple and leaves in the custody of the mages of Dalaran an egg she feared was a mistake to revive.  The mages, however, saw an opportunity to try and help redeem the Black flight, and after convincing the Dragon Queen into giving them her blessing, they hatch the egg in the hopes that nurturing a Black Dragon and protecting it from the whispers that took Deathwing would yield the first truly uncorrupted Black Dragon seen in thousands of years.

Whether or not their experiment was a success or a failure is not clear and the answers vary from person to person, but as the dragonchild grew and began to think for himself, the mageocracy saw fit to further and further shelter their charge and keep him occupied... To the point of hiding him and denying his existence to those outside of the few responsible for him.  For years as he was kept in the dark, the dragonchild believed that he was the last of his kind, and his only comfort was the time he spent with his teacher, master, and prime warden, Gilthoniel Freezeflame; a man who grew up in a similar circumstance as the dragonchild in his care and was familiar with dragons as a whole.

Study by day, training by night, and the Eye of the Kirin Tor upon him at all hours was the only life this dragonchild knew, sheltered from the world beyond his city, and reprimanded every time he got too close to learning too much.  His safety was both his comfort and his fear... but he was never in a position to complain, and for a while, that was his life.

A life that would soon turn topsy turvy as the city of his sanctuary was sacked, and his flight from Dalaran would lead him and his teacher to a very strange man in the darkest deepwood of Kalimdor...

--The Unhatched Egg: A dead black dragon egg is found frozen in the vicinity of Wyrmrest Temple.  Against her better judgement, Alexstraza revives the egg and turns the egg over to the Kirin Tor in the hopes they would dispose of the egg.  Instead, after convincing the Dragon Queen, they allow the egg to hatch and assign Gilthoniel Freezeflame/Halfelven as the hatchling's primary warden.

--Flight to Kalimdor: Just a few mere weeks before the Sacking of Dalaran, the Blue Dragon, Lady Azurigosa, urges Gilthoniel to escort Terrothanes to the Blue Dragon hatchery and sanctum of Mazthoril in distant Kalimdor.  They spend a few months in the care of Lady Haleh before being sent to Astranaar via Felwood.
--Fixing a Broken Druid: Pterneldan is discovered in darkest Felwood by two Dalaran mages (Gilthoniel and his ward, Terrothanes) seeking shelter from war. The time in Felwood had left Pterneldan weakened, feral, and severely amnesiac. He is taken first to Astranaar, and then is sent to the newly planted Teldrassil to recover.

--Terro and Gilthoniel part ways with Kbel and Pterneldan once arriving at the Eastern Kingdoms.  The two return to Dalaran shortly afterward.

The Second Scourge Invasion
--With the impending move of Dalaran to Northrend, the mageocracy of Dalaran fear that the city's proximity to the evils the mages were helping fight would undo their careful training of the young black dragon, so they force him to stay in Stormwind under careful watch of the Eye.  This, of course, separates him from his mentor and prime warden in the process.

_____The Argent Tournament
-28--Fall of the Lich King
--After a visit from Pterneldan and Gilthoniel, Terrothanes is placed under the charge of the Netherwing Flight for training and protection from the more malicious Black Dragons patrolling Outland.

--Terrothanes is witness to his prime warden's true nature being outted in full view of all of Dalaran, forcing the half-elf into exile.  This was both a shock and a disappointment for Terro, as he was looking forward to a sense of normalcy when Gilthoniel completed his last mission for the Kirin-Tor.  He drifts back and forth between Theremore and Ironforge to keep in touch with his now adoptive father and to stay under the protection Pterneldan was providing him.

He doesn't tell them why he is entering the Dream, only that it is important, and that while he is hibernating, he is vulnerable; a moment of weakness he knew the Twilight's Hammer would take advantage of. -- And take advantage of his weakness they did. Overwhelming his last line of defense with waves upon waves of powerful subjugated elementals, the Twilight's Hammer imploded Pterneldan's barrowdens on top of him, apparently killing the Archdruid in his sleep. Gloating and claiming responsibility for this atrocity is one Riverswift Auberthoril, a long-time member of the cult and a former Druidic Warden... and one who knew Pterneldan well...
--Terrothanes is slightly traumatized by this event, but his horrified at how his own adoptive father, Gilthoniel, reacted to Auberthoril's deed.  The half-elven mage's whereabouts become unknown at this point.

--The Shattering

--Wrong place. Wrong time.  While fetching supplies in Stormwind for his friends in Ironforge, Deathwing arrives to burn the city.  Terro goes out of his way to help the citizens escape the Aspect of Death's wrath, but Deathwing calls Terro out and makes public Terrothanes's own heritage to the fleeing humans he was helping.  After Deathwing left his mark and flew away, the displaced citizens of Stormwind almost immediately forget Terro's kindness to them...  He finds sanctuary in Ironforge not long afterward.
--For reasons known only to him, he changes his name from Magmaflame to Magmaheart.
