Satu is the only child of Rosque and Natikya Emrial, and was born in Stormwind City a year before the orcs came through the Dark Portal and the First War began. As a young child she escaped with her mother to Lordaeron, where her father would come to see them between battles and missions he carried out for the armies of the Alliance. Natikya, being a Priestess, remained in Lordaeron City and aided the refugees. So Satu spent her childhood playing with the other children whose parents had gone off to war, as well as with the orphans of those who were lost in the fighting from both the First and Second Wars. However, not long after the rebuilding of Stormwind City began, when Satu turned 8 years old, her father left and never returned.

Satu and her mother were allowed to live in the Cathedral of Light, so her days were filled with services, learning about the light and healing, and helping her mother around the city. But once she began to consider the paths before her, Natikya decided to embark on a journey to find her husband. Satu would see little of her for the next few years, but one day, early in the rigorous weapon training she had undertaken, a request came. Natikya wished her daughter to go and aid a family in Westfall. She and Satu’s father had been long friends of this family, and the wife was getting ready to pass on. Satu struggled at first with going to aid these people she had only met once in her life, but chose to go, not wishing to deny them solace.

When she arrived, the woman had already passed, but her husband and young daughter, Briar Rose, welcomed Satu with open arms. She stayed on with the family for awhile, learning much from the two of them until things were settled down, and then returned to the city with a new drive and purpose. The time she had spent with these people she now considered family had helped her to finally make the decision to become a Paladin.

After beginning her training in Stormwind, Satu went on to study at Northshire Abbey for a time as she tried to work out where to begin to help those around her in need. It was then that she began to have visions, glimpses of an uncertain future. She spoke with the priests and Holy men and women of the Abbey, but none could tell her of what she saw, or what she should do. She poured over texts, trying to find some sort of answer. But then one night, a traveler came to the Abbey, named Raihu.

Raihu had much knowledge about the world and seemed to take an avid interest in what Satu had seen. That evening, they spoke long into the night of what she had perceived. His guidance finally relieved her anxiety and she began to feel that maybe there was a reason for her visions, a destiny that awaited her. When she awoke the next morning, the man was gone, but she knew it was time for her to set out on her journey. The world was now in twilight. Darkness was coming. She must be vigilant, and prepare for the time when the light would no longer shine.
